Begeer

Always at the forefront of emerging crises; from studying Middle Eastern studies to working in cybersecurity and misinformation, and now on the front line of generative AI risks. I help organisations understand what's coming before it arrives.

Building safety infrastructure for the AI era

I'm a Trust & Safety leader with close to a decade of experience at the intersection of AI, policy, and cyber intelligence. Currently Head of Emerging Trends (interim) at Alice (formerly ActiveFence), I provide intelligence and partner with some of the world's most consequential AI and technology companies to provide them with intelligence on emerging threats, stress-test their systems and policies for safety and enforcement gaps.

My background spans cybersecurity, LLM safeguards, and building high-performance intelligence teams across multiple continents and time zones.

I hold an MSc in Crisis & Security Management from Leiden University, where my thesis on media-induced terrorism received a top grade, alongside a BA in International Studies (Distinction) and certifications in CompTIA Security+, Beginners Python, and Agile Management.

Lecturing Academia

Outside the office

๐Ÿ‰

Tag Rugby

I play every week; it's one of the few things that completely empties my head. There's something irreplaceable about the focus and camaraderie of team sport.

๐ŸŒ

Travel

I travel regularly, whether back to family in the Netherlands or somewhere entirely new. Exploring different cultures, languages, and cuisines is a constant source of curiosity.

๐Ÿšด

Cycling

Currently training for a Rotterdam to Paris ride in April; combining two of my favourite things: endurance exercise and arriving somewhere interesting at the end of it.

๐Ÿณ

Cooking

A few uninterrupted hours in the kitchen is my version of therapy. Experimenting with new cuisines, mostly inspired by wherever I've recently been.

๐Ÿ“š

Reading & Book Club

I go to a book club once a month, it's reliably made me read books I'd never have chosen myself, which is exactly the point.

๐Ÿ™๏ธ

London

I've lived here since 2017 and it still surprises me. There's always a neighbourhood I haven't properly explored yet.
